Before moving to Victoria I had big plans for 2010. I was planning to shoot a ton of photos and establish myself as a photographer in BC. In January I thought I was heading in that direction. Then I became caught up in the whirlwind of life in a new city; I made new friends, started a new relationship, and stopped focusing on photography. I hardly picked up my camera during the summer and to be honest, it felt really good. I think I needed to take a step back, get some perspective, and take a break from constantly thinking about photography. As the days started to get shorter, and all the leaves around me started changing, I realized that I was ready to get back to shooting. What better way to do that then to have a lovely (and very talented) musician in front of the lens. Ellisa Hartman is an amazing artist originally hailing from Victoria, BC. She now resides in Campbell River on Vancouver Island. My friend Adam Lee, of islandsoapbox.com recently interviewed her and contacted me with an opportunity to do a photo shoot with her.
After meeting her and seeing her perform at Girls with Guitars 2, I knew it would be an amazing shoot. Her smooth soothing voice was beautiful to listen to. If you ever get a chance to see her play, make sure to get your ass out to her show, she won't disappoint.
