Nida & Jude, Engagement Photos

Let me introduce Nida and Jude, two amazing lovebirds who are getting married this fall. Nida lives in Victoria with her family, while Jude lives in Toronto. They haven't seen each other much lately, but Jude is in town for a week. I had never met Jude before the photoshoot, but as we started, it was instantly obvious that these two are soul-mates. That combined with the fact that both of them were rocking some awesome outfits meant that my job became pretty easy. Congratulations Nida and Jude on your engagement, you guys are perfect for each other.

Sheena & Adam: Enjoying Victoria

Sheena and Adam were the first two people I met in Victoria. They were kind enough to let me crash on their couch way back in December of 2009 while I was looking for a place to live. It's taken a while to sync all our schedules, but we finally got together last week for a photoshoot. They brought along their super awesome dog Tobias as well. After checking out the photos, I suggest checking out their blogs. Adam runs the music blog Island Soap Box and Sheena does a cooking blog over here.

Tim and Becky: Engaged in Victoria

Meet Tim and Becky. They are engaged, in love, and super cute together. They both ride bikes, drink coffee and enjoy the ocean. Tim indulges in writing and Becky makes awesome jewelry, which is available at rebeccasimone. This shoot has an extra twist- it is my first portrait session shot on film. Without getting too geeky (that will come in a later post), I shot this with two different film cameras, a Nikon FE and my Grandpa's old medium format Yashica-D. I used multiple types of film as well. Thanks to Tim and Becky for being such great test subjects. This was an awesome experience, and I am hoping for more chances to shoot with film in the future.

Cassie and Jason: Married in Vancouver

In December 2010 two of my good friends, Jason and Cassie were married in Vancouver BC. It was a small and intimate wedding- there were only 10 guests, with my girlfriend Clare as the Maid of Honor. After getting ready for the day at The St. Regis Hotel we headed to Granville Island for some pre-wedding portraits. The short but beautiful ceremony was held at the Bloedel Conservatory, which was all lit up with Christmas lights. After taking advantage of the beautiful fountain outside for some potraits after the ceremony, we headed to Gotham Steakhouse for dinner. The food was amazing and was followed by a Super Mario wedding cake that suited Jason and Cassie perfectly. One of the most memorable moments of the day happened just before the ceremony. Upon arriving at the Bloedel Conservatory,  Cassie accidently threw the marriage licence over a railing and if not for a well-placed tree, it would have landed in an indoor river. Everyone had a few giggles and decided that it was good to get the possible disaster done early!

This was an intimate and joyful wedding. I think the photos capture the energy of the day.

Congratulations Cassie and Jason. You guys are so much fun, and your wedding didn't disappoint!
